Use Ghost Mode with complete shortcut control.
This guide explains how to use the floating Ghost Mode desktop assistant, keyboard shortcuts, Auto Mode, Manual Mode, screen protection, docking positions and quick troubleshooting.
A floating assistant that stays ready when you need it.
Ghost Mode opens The Talent Grid assistant as a clean desktop panel. You can hide it, dock it, resize it, reload it and switch between automatic and manual listening.
Show or Hide Instantly
Use one shortcut to bring the assistant on screen or hide it without closing the app.
Dock Anywhere
Move the panel to the left, right, top, bottom or center of your current screen.
Choose Listening Mode
Use Auto Mode for continuous sessions and Manual Mode for selected question capture.
Product shortcuts in Ghost Mode
These shortcuts work while the desktop app is running. If a shortcut does not respond, another app may be using the same key combination.
Auto Mode vs Manual Mode
Auto Mode is useful for longer hands-free sessions. Manual Mode is useful when you want full control over exactly what gets captured.
Hands-free question detection
Auto Mode listens continuously and detects spoken questions automatically.
- Best for mock interviews, training, demos, sales practice and Q&A sessions.
- Click Start Listening and speak naturally.
- The assistant detects questions and prepares suggested answers automatically.
- Use Pause when you need a break and Stop when the session is complete.
Capture only selected questions
Manual Mode records only when you start recording and processes after you stop.
- Best for testing, noisy environments, short practice and selected questions.
- Click Start Recording before the question.
- Speak or capture the question clearly.
- Click Stop Recording to generate the answer.
How to use Auto Mode
Use Auto Mode when you want the assistant to listen continuously and identify questions automatically.
How to use Manual Mode
Use Manual Mode when you want full control over when a question is recorded and processed.
Best way for a new user to start
Start with Manual Mode to test microphone and answer generation. Then move to Auto Mode for longer sessions.
Common issues and quick fixes
Most issues can be fixed by checking microphone permissions, switching modes or reloading the assistant.
Shortcut is not working
Make sure the app is running. Another application may be using the same shortcut. Click once on the desktop and try again. If needed, restart the Ghost Mode app.
Assistant is not visible
Press Ctrl + Shift + Y to show it. If it is misplaced, press Ctrl + Shift + C to center it or Ctrl + Shift + Right Arrow to dock it on the right.
Auto Mode is not detecting questions
Speak clearly, reduce background noise, check microphone permissions, reload using Ctrl + Shift + R and test one question in Manual Mode.
Auto Mode is detecting too much audio
Pause Auto Mode when it is not needed, reduce nearby conversations, keep the microphone close to the speaker or switch to Manual Mode.
Manual Mode records but no answer appears
Try a shorter and clearer question. Wait a few seconds after stopping recording. Check the internet connection and reload the assistant if required.
Assistant appears in screen sharing or recording
Press Ctrl + Shift + P to toggle screen protection. Test it with your actual screen-sharing tool because behavior may vary by system and application.
Ready to use Ghost Mode confidently?
Start with Manual Mode, confirm that recording and answer generation work properly, then use Auto Mode for longer guided sessions.
